      Thomas S. Whiteley was born 9 April 1820 in Pulaski County, KY, son of Thomas Whiteley and Winifred Van Hook. He received one share of his father's estate, and in 1839 bought the remaining shares of the old farm except one. On 6 March 1846 he sold it.

      He married Malinda E. Sapp 16 January 1843 in Clay City, IL. In about 1864 they moved, along with their family, to Central Texas, later buying a farm about 4 or 5 miles from Georgetown (in Williamson County). Their home is still standing. He gave land for a church, school and cemetery. Only the cemetery remains: Whiteley Cemetery. Thomas was an elder in the Primitive Baptist Church and started many churches in Williamson and Bell Counties.
