    Notes
    Married:
    • John Richardson is living in Augusta County, Virginia in 1769. He had settled on the "Great Kannawa (now Red River) oposite the mouth of Great Reed Island (now Big Reed Island Creek). The area became Botetourt County in 1770, Fincastle in 1772, Montgomery in 1777 and Pulaski in 1842. After being at that location for two or three years, he moved just across the New River; thta area was Montgomery County until it became Wythe in 1790, Grayson in 1793 and present day Carroll County in 1842. John Richardson died about 1787 (last Montgomery County Tax record for him) and Lettice Richardson appeared on the 1788 and 1789 tax records. John left no will but in 1800 deed with his heirs as Grantors revealed that Lettice or Letitia now was married to John Powell. John and Letitia Powell supposedly moved to Pulaski County, KY, around 1802 where both supposedly died. John and Letitia Richardson had at least eight children, quite possibly more. Interestingly, they had a son named Thomas (named after Thomas Morgan) and a son named Lewis named after Lewis Morgan, John's grandfather.
Took the Oath of allegiance to the revolutionary cause. He served in the Fincastle Co., (Montgomery Co.) VA Militia under Captain William Bobbitt (1778-1782) and later under Capt. Jonathan Isom's Co. The Militia of Montgomery Co., VA marched to join Gen Green in NC in 1781. "Annals of South west Virginia, page 774.
