6212 DOROTHY HOPE BURTON, age 85, of Hall Drive, Mount Vernon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 21, 2013.

She was born on April 7, 1928 in Norwood, Ohio to the late Rev. Osber and Ina Bell (Sears) Zachary. Dorothy earned her undergraduate degree from Ball State Teachers College in 1960 and in 1967 earned her Master's Degree in Education from Ball State University. In 1984 she received a Master's in Teacher Education from the Ohio State University. Dorothy retired in 1990 after 13 years of employment as an Assistant Professor of Education and field placement coordinator from the Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

She was a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Ohio Association for Colleges of Teacher Education and First Church of the Nazarene. Dorothy received special recognition in 1982 by being listed in Who's Who in the Midwest.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Dianne Dooley of Winchester, Ohio, Sally Jo (Brian) Olk of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Hiedi Jo Dudelston-Daniels, W. Tyler (Angie Tuttle) Hunley, Jessica Dianne Dooley and Megan (Dan) Smallwood, six great-grandchildren, Jakob Daniels, Leatha Tuttle, Sarah Tuttle, Gage Tuttle, Samantha Smallwood and William Stephen Blaze Smallwood, a sister, Constance (Dr. John) Kolpitcke of Cornelius, North Carolina, two nieces, Karen Kolpitcke and Melanie Kolpitcke, great-nephews, Andy and Bryan Kolpitcke.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Alan Burton, a brother, Beecher Alan Zachary and a nephew, Kenneth Kolpitcke.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Avenue, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050, where friends may call one hour prior. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
